FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (F.A.Q.)

I HAVE TRIED TO PLAY WITH MY RIVAL, BUT IT HAS NOT BEEN POSSIBLE FOR REASONS BEYOND MY WILL, DOES IT COUNT AS A MATCH WON BY ME?

NO .  Only games played will be scored. The motives:

1- Both for the Organization, as well as for the Clubs and the players, the interesting thing is that  the more games are played, the better.

This is not possible if unplayed matches are scored, and it would lead to a negative dynamic for the competition.

The only way to get points is  to play .

2-  The competition is distorted : to establish a real classification according to the level of play, the most important thing is to play. The more games played, the better the Ranking will be represented according to each player's level of play.

3-  It is very difficult to determine the reasons why a match has not been played . There are two versions, thousands of possible circumstances, and the Organization cannot arbitrarily and subjectively assess each case. What happens if a player proposes to play with a rival during a week, the latter cannot, but the following week it is the rival who proposes and the first player cannot? What if a player proposes to play against a rival for 2 weeks, the latter proposes to postpone it until later for personal reasons, and during the last week he tells him to play and the first player can no longer? To whom do we score the victory?

The most objective thing, therefore, is  to rate only the games played.

4- It would be acting unfairly towards those players who YES have played their games.

A counterproductive message would be sent, " why play, if later they are going to give points to my rivals without having played ", a message that does not suit any of the parties involved in the League: Organization, Clubs and Players.

An example of why scoring unplayed matches can harm third parties:

GROUP CLASSIFICATION

Player 1  games played 3 games won 3 games lost 0 points 9

Player 2  games played 4 games won 2 games lost 2 points 8

Player 3  games played 3 games won 2 games lost 1 points 7

Player 4  games played 4 games won 1 games lost 3 points 6

Player 5  games played 2 games won 0 games lost 2 points 2

In this group we can observe the following:

  • Players  2 and 4  have played their 4 matches, obtaining 1 victory each (both against Player 5), and Player 2 has also defeated Player 4.
  • Player  1  has played 3 games, winning them all (he is the best player in his group), and only has one game pending against Player 5 (a priori the worst player in the group)
  • Player  3  has also played 3 matches, winning against Players 2 and 4, and losing to Player 1. He also has his match against Player 5 pending.
  • Player  5  has played 2 games, losing to Players 2 and 4, and has 2 games pending, against Players 1 and 3 (the best in the group)

If in this case, the last week of the Cycle is reached, and Player 5 proposes to play the 2 best players in the group (1 and 2), and these, due to commitments, cannot play, what would happen if we gave him the matches to Player 5 ? The next:

FINAL GROUP CLASSIFICATION BY AWARDING POINTS ARBITRARILY:

Player 1  games played 3 games won 3 games lost 0 points 9+1=10

Player 2  games played 4 games won 2 games lost 2 points 8

Player 3  games played 3 games won 2 games lost 1 points 7+1=8

Player 5  games played 2 games won 0 games lost 2 points 2+6=8

Player 4  games played 4 games won 1 games lost 3 points 6

As we see, the Classification of this group changes, it does not at all represent the level demonstrated on the court, and in addition the player who has played the least is rewarded, and the Player who did plan and play his 4 games is punished:

  • Player 5, who has actually played 2 games and lost them, scores 2 victories against the 2 best in the group, and overtakes Player 4, who had played all his games, and had also beaten him.
  • Player 4, who has been diligent and has organized correctly and played all his matches, is overtaken by Player 5, whom he had beaten on court.

Experience has shown that the correct way to get more games played and for the classification to reflect what happens on the court is  not to score unplayed games.

BUT IF I HAVE TRIED TO PLAY WITH MY RIVAL, IT IS UNFAIR THAT I CAN'T ADD POINTS.

The main objective of the competition is  to have fun, meet new rivals, play at reduced prices, and add extra motivation to each match.  It is important to keep this in mind, because sometimes perspective is lost.

From the Organization we understand that it may be annoying not to be able to score points by not being able to play a match when one has shown availability to play it, but we must understand that this competition  is an amateur competition :  the participating players have jobs, families, obligations, trips, injuries In addition, it may rain, etc., which may prevent a certain match from being played.

Therefore, our recommendation is that  matches be scheduled as far in advance as possible :  each player knows who their rivals will be  5 weeks in advance , so we understand that it is enough time for those players who are very interested in playing all their games. parties can do it.

If even so, by scheduling the matches sufficiently in advance, a player cannot match up with a rival, from the Málaga Tennis League Organization we encourage you to inform us of this  at least 2 weeks in advance of the end date of the Cycle. , to mediate between both players, and try to establish a date and time for the match.

Likewise, it must be understood that for a match that is not played in a Cycle, the result will change very little in the group classification, and much less in the General Classification: the matches played will have more influence than that match that was left unplayed. .

In any case,  if the Organization observes that a player does not play matches in an interested manner, and repeatedly, it may penalize or exclude said player from the competition .

CAN MATCHES BE “ASSIGNED”?

NO , for the reasons explained above. Only games played will be scored.

WHAT IF MY RIVAL DOESN'T WANT TO PLAY BECAUSE HE IS INTERESTED IN THE MATCH NOT BEING PLAY?

Maybe, it can happen, but it is a rectifiable incident, and  very rare .

The Organization will monitor the behavior of that player, and if it is found that that player once again does not play a match for his own interest, he will be immediately expelled from the League.

Furthermore, as stated in the Regulations, the Organization will have the power to sanction a League player according to their behavior or way of proceeding, in the form of points, relegations, or exclusion from the League.

CAN I PLAY A LEAGUE MATCH IN ANOTHER CLUB?

NO , only the results of matches played in the Associated Clubs Club de Tenis Sohail Fuengirola will be taken into account.

Furthermore, if a player intentionally provides the organization with a result of a match not played in one of the Associated Clubs,  he will be immediately expelled from the competition.

I HAVE A DELAYED GAME, AND THE PRESENT CYCLE IS GOING TO END, CAN I PLAY IT AFTER THE END OF THE CYCLE DATE?

NO . In order not to harm the rest of the participants,  delayed matches cannot be played after the end date of each Cycle.

It must be taken into account that after each Cycle there are group changes, promotions, relegations, and waiting for a result would delay the entire competition.

For this reason, we emphasize the  importance of scheduling all the matches of the Cycle well in advance : there are 5 weeks for a maximum of 4 matches, there is plenty of time, the important thing is to organize the matches well.

CAN WE PLAY THE MATCH TO 3 SETS INSTEAD OF BREAKING A TIE WITH SUPERTIE BREAK IF WE BOTH AGREE?

NO

Prices are for a 2-Set match and a 10-point tiebreaker Supertie break.

Therefore, from the Organization we establish that to break the tie, the Supertie Break is played to 10 points, and this will be stated when entering a result.
